Driver claims his breast-fondling photo is a fake
Police are investigating the authenticity of a photo showing a man speed-driving while fondling a woman's breast after the man told the media the photo was a fake and expressed his concerns over personal privacy.
The 36-year-old Deng Jialin who owns a small company in southwest Sichuan Province told the Chengdu Business Daily that the photo which spread rapidly on the Internet was actually forged using a software.
Deng claimed that he was driving alone in his car on a highway on July 29 when he was caught driving over the speed limit by an overhead surveillance camera.
Although the online photo showed Deng used one hand to hold the wheel and another to touch the breast of a young woman sitting beside, he insisted that no one was in his car during the whole trip.
"The young woman was added into the picture by my business competitor using some software," Deng told the newspaper.
He said his life had been disrupted after the photo triggered a massive online search to find out his identity and his personal information had been made public.
He blamed the traffic police for putting the photo online, and his concerns over personal privacy were echoed by many netizens who fear the ubiquitous surveillance cameras are intruding on their privacy.
In response, the Mianyang City traffic police told the newspaper that they were still investigating the source and authenticity of the photo.
They said in a statement that there were possibilities that the picture was illegally leaked out by workers who were hired to collect traffic violation pictures.
The police said they would severely punish anyone who leaked the photo after the investigation.
