Driver killed, 40 tons of alcohol spilled as truck overturns on Zhejiang highway
A chemical tanker truck overturned on a highway in Zhejiang Province this morning, killing the driver and causing leakage of nearly 40 tons of ethylene glycol, according to China News Service.
The accident took place at 8:28am near the provincial capital Hangzhou on the G92 expressway, police reportedly told CNS.
Ethylene glycol had spilled around the road and the driver was found to be severely injured when police arrived, the report said.
The male driver was later pronounced dead by paramedics.
The accident caused the Shaoxing City toll station to be closed temporarily.
The cause of the accident was still being investigated, according to the report.
