Driver 'ordered' to stay stopped
TWO passengers who had been beside the driver of the D3115 train after the crash recalled him saying he "had received an order," to stop and not to carry on after the lightning strike.
The driver of the D301 that rear-ended the D3115 was killed in the accident.
Wang Hairu told Southern Metropolis Weekly that the driver of D3115 was distraught after the collision but still helped passengers escape. She recalled him crying on the phone as he talked with someone after the crash.
Bao Yongyuan told state TV that the driver said: "It wasn't my fault. The other train crashed into us."
Wang said she heard the driver say: "I would never drive again the rest of my life. I had told him I could manage to drive on but he forced me to stop over."
