Driver tries to ram Taiwan leader’s door
A DRIVER tried to ram his car early yesterday into the residence of Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou in the second such incident this year.
Chen Ping-sung attempted to smash into a door of Ma’s guarded residence in central Taipei, police said.
But the sedan’s tires were punctured by metal spikes installed on the ground as a security measure and the door was undamaged, they said.
Chen had attached a bucket of red paint to his front bumper which spilled onto the car.
He was arrested by security staff and taken away for questioning.
Ma was jogging in the residential compound at the time, said his spokeswoman Ma Wei-kuo.
The suspect told police he was trying to protest against negligence caused by government bureaucracy which had led to many medical disputes.
In January a man, angry at a court ruling in a case involving his divorced wife, rammed a 35-ton truck through a bulletproof screen and into the main gate of Ma’s office.
