Driverless train tests
BEIJING’S first driverless subway line has begun test runs in preparation for services to start by the end of the year.
The Yanfang line, the first domestically developed automated subway on the Chinese mainland, will serve the southwestern suburb of Fangshan, according to First Engineering Co, Ltd of China Railway Electrification Bureau Group. Trains will have a top speed of 80kph, and carry 1,262 passengers.
Driverless trains are planned for more lines, including an express line to a new airport being built in Daxing District.
