Driver鈥檚 revenge ends in death sentence
A driver in a state of near mental collapse when he knocked down and killed three pedestrians on a Beijing street was sentenced to death at the capital鈥檚 No. 3 People鈥檚 Court yesterday.
The court heard that Jin Fusheng had been in dispute with the Sanlitun Economics Management Center over ownership of a factory. His protests and legal action had come to nothing and he decided to take revenge.
On December 26, 2014, he drove his car to the factory and knocked down a member of staff before speeding off. It was then that he lost control and hit a group of pedestrians, killing three and injured eight, two of them seriously.
Videos showed his car finally coming to a halt after hitting a minivan. He was apprehended at the scene.
At a November 10 hearing, Jin said he was 鈥渕entally collapsing鈥 when he hit his first victim, according to a CCTV report.
According to Vista Magazine, a court rejected Jin鈥檚 legal action against the center due to a lack of evidence. Protests on the street and in Tian鈥檃nmen Square had also failed to elicit a positive response from authorities.
