Drug addict causes plane to return to airport

A Beijing-bound Air China plane was forced to return to Wuhan, capital of central Hubei Province because a drug addict on the plane suffered a bout of twitching and cramps.
Flight CA1874 took off at 9:18pm on Wednesday and 30 minutes later, a male passenger in his 30s was found trembling in his seat. Flight attendants helped him to lie down on the last row of seats but they couldn't sedate him. Their captain then decided to return to Wuhan.
When the plane touched down at the Wuhan airport, medical workers were already waiting there and gave him immediate treatment, the local Changjiang Daily reported today.
The man first lied to the doctors that he had not eaten or slept for many hours and that caused his spasm. After further questioning, he confessed that he had a history of drug abuse.
The man felt relieved and left the airport after he had intravenous drips.
Air China said the episode cost the company at least 50,000 yuan (US$7,920) and the delay caused the return flight on the same night to be cancelled.
