Drugged dad jailed for dangling daughter

A FATHER has been jailed for three years for dangling his two-year-old daughter upside down from an eighth-floor window after he had used drugs.

Chenghua District People's Court in Sichuan Province's capital Chengdu City sentenced 34-year-old Hu Binjun yesterday on a charge of failed homicide, today's West China City Daily reported.

Hu was hallucinating from crystal methamphetamine when he dangled his daughter from the window by one leg for nearly four hours on July 7 last year, the court was told by witnesses.

Prosecutors said he had threatened to jump out the window with his daughter after a dispute with his wife.

Hu denied he had intended to kill his daughter, telling the court he had dangled his daughter out of the window for no more than 10 minutes.

The girl suffered bruises on her arms and legs after being rescued by more than 40 police officers and firefighters on the scene.
