FIVE people died in a fire at a building early Saturday in east China's Jiangsu Province, the local fire department said.

Suzhou City fire department received a report at 2:54 a.m. Saturday of a furniture warehouse fire in Xiangcheng District. Five people were rescued from the building but later died in hospital due to their injuries.

More than 200 square meters of the two-storey brick-concrete building sustained fire damage. The investigation continues.
