Elderly Chinese dies on the Great Wall after being knocked down by Canadian
A Chinese woman, 70, died on the Great Wall yesterday morning after she hit her head when she was accidentally knocked over by a Canadian woman, Beijing News reported today.
The accident happened around 11am when the victim surnamed Cui from Jiamusi City in Heilongjiang Province was knocked down by the Canadian, who darted down the stairs, the report said, citing a family member.
The relative surnamed Song said Cui had been in good health.
"She (the foreigner) walked down the steps very quickly,” Song told the newspaper. “Cui was not holding the handrail and got knocked down.
Cui’s head hit the wall and she died at the scene, Song added.
Police didn’t release any details about the Canadian woman other than her nationality, the paper reported.
The Huairou branch of the Beijing Public Security Bureau was investigating the incident, the report said.
