Elderly woman survives for 7 days in ‘sky hole’
A 78-year-old woman survived for seven days in a 20-meter “sky hole” by licking water droplets off of rocks in Yantang Village of Wanyuan City in Sichuan Province, Chengdu Business News reported today.
The woman, surnamed You, fell into a cave that villagers call “sky holes” when she was passing by a bamboo grove alone on the night of November 27.
A total of 198 people in the village started a search for her. You’s son found her in a cave about 15 meters from their home on December 4.
She was sent to a hospital for treatment as soon as she was rescued. You had swollen feet as they were submerged in muddy water for seven days and also had some bruises on her face and hands. She was released from hospital after seven days of observation.
