Emergency diverts flight
An Air China flight from Xiamen to Beijing was diverted midway through its journey yesterday after smoke appeared in the cockpit, the carrier said. No passenger was injured in the accident.
The captain on flight CA1802 issued an emergency code shortly after take-off at 7:52am.
The aircraft landed at the nearest Hefei airport in central Anhui Province at 9:18am.
The carrier then sent an inspection team to check the aircraft, but it has yet to say what caused the incident.
Passengers were put on another aircraft to complete their flight to the Chinese capital.
