Employers check up candidates on social media
Chinese employers have a higher usage of social media data in recruiting and hiring compared with their counterparts in other countries. This is a unique feature of China’s job market, according to the latest survey made by SHL.
The survey on nearly 250 Chinese employers showed that more than half of them will check the photos of job applicants, compared with only 12 percent in other countries.
About 21 percent of the Chinese employers said they will also check information related to the candidates posted by their friends on social media, compared with only 6 percent in other countries.
SHL said social media may become an important cross-reference tool for Chinese recruiters. Job applicants should be careful about their image and exposure on social media.
