End In Sight For Obsolete Legislation

CHINA'S top legislature is considering abolishing eight laws as part of an effort to eliminate redundant legislation.

A draft was submitted to the ninth session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress.

The laws include those covering police stations, urban neighborhood offices, the use of state-owned wasteland and the establishment of schools with donations by overseas Chinese.

The laws were "not applicable to the current economic and social development," said Li Shishi, director of the committee's Commission for Legislative Affairs.
