Entrance to China’s consulate in San Francisco set afire
THE entrance to China’s Consulate General in San Francisco was set afire today, but no one was injured, its official website reported.
At 9:25 pm on January 1 (local time), a man got down from a van parked in front of the consulate office and poured two buckets of gas on the front gate, which was severely damaged in the resulting fire.
Police, firefighters and safety officials rushed to the scene.
The consulate condemned the arson as being of “evil will” and an act that “threatened” consulate officials and surrounding residents. The US authorities were urged to catch the suspect as soon as possible.
No further details were released pending further investigation.
