Environment watchdog to get more independence
CHINA’S environmental protection management system will be reformed to make it more independent, President Xi Jinping said yesterday.
An absence of supervision over local governments and intervention in the environmental watchdog’s duties are common problems, he said.
Provincial-level environmental departments will be put directly in charge of allocating budgets, county-level bureaus will be abolished and supervision agencies will take their place, he said.
