Ex-Heilongjiang Coal Mine Safety director under probe for taking bribes
THE director of the China Coal Mine Art Troupe is being investigated over allegations he took millions of yuan in bribes when he served as a provincial coal mine safety bureau director, China's State Administration of Work Safety said yesterday.
Zhang Chengxiang has been placed under "shuanggui," a Chinese term for detention of officials suspected of corruption. He was removed from his post, People’s Daily reported.
Preliminary investigation showed evidence that Zhang took bribes of 13.43 million yuan (US$2.21 million) when he served as the director of the Heilongjiang Coal Mine Safety Bureau starting in 2005.
Zhang is accused of owning multiple properties in Heilongjiang and Hainan provinces as well as in Dalian and Beijing.
Zhang was transferred to China Coal Mine Art Troupe as the director in July 2011.
