Ex-Inner Mongolia official booted from Party hid cash worth nearly 300 years' of his salary
AN investigation has revealed that Wu Zhizhong, former deputy secretary-general of the government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and former director of the region’s legislative affairs office, hid bundles of cash at home that totaled nearly 300 years’ worth of his annual salary, Xinhuanet.com reported today.
Wu was dismissed from the Party and his posts due to serious violation of disciplines last July.
Wu had 33 properties in China, 29 of which have permanent investment value, and another property in Canada. Investigators found a bag of keys at his home with packs of cash, gold and bullion bars, a collection of calligraphy, paintings and watches in store rooms of his homes in Beijing and Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Wu said that once his wife took a fancy to some jewelry at a gift shop in a high-end hotel in Beijing, and he bought the whole lot under the counter.
Wu turned one of his rooms at home into a hall for worshipping Buddha featuring almost 100 niches for Buddha, Buddhist statues and Buddhist paintings. However, underneath the cabinet housing these Buddhist statues, nearly 100 pornography discs were also found, according to the investigators.
