Ex-Shandong deputy governor gets life sentence for graft

HUANG Sheng, the former deputy governor of Shandong Province, was sentenced to life imprisonment today for taking bribes of 12.23 million yuan (US$1.94 million) during his office from 1998 to 2011.

Huang took bribes from 21 companies and individuals when he served as deputy governor of Shandong Province and mayor of Dezhou City, said a court in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province.

Huang also sold government positions for prices from 50,000 yuan to 500,000 yuan. All his ill-gotten money has been recovered, the court said.

Earlier media reports said Huang sought bribes and sex service on his official and personal tours in different places in the province.
