LIAONING Province has discontinued gunshot executions in favor of lethal injection, legal authorities in the province said yesterday.
The last four cities still using the gunshot method adopted lethal injection after the province's 10 other cities had adopted it earlier this year, a source with the provincial higher people's court said.
Lethal injection was first used in Liaoning in 2001.
In 2003, Yunnan became the first province in the country to abandon gunshot executions.
