Exhibition staged in Hong Kong to mark 25th anniversary of Basic Law's promulgation
HONG Kong staged an exhibition featuring photographs, documents, and interactive games Saturday on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of promulgation of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Chief Secretary for Administration Carrie Lam said citizens of different ages and classes could get a deeper understanding of the Basic Law through the exhibition.
"I believe that after visiting the exhibition, people would have a better understanding that the justice, freedom and rights we enjoy after Hong Kong's return to China and the competitive advantages Hong Kong enjoys, are all based upon the Basic Law," she said.
The show also features wax figures of late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping and then British prime minister Margaret Thatcher meeting for the negotiation of Hong Kong's future at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and "The Draft Basic Law of the HKSAR of the People's Republic of China (for Solicitation of Opinions)" issued in 1988.
To make visitors more interested, it also includes interactive games, small quizzes on knowledge of the Basic Law, as well as an array of other activities.
"This exhibition is good for my child as this sort of knowledge is good for his development in the future," said a visitor who brought her son to the exhibition.
