Ex-inmate kills elderly couple after rape

A former inmate has been arrested for raping an 86-year-old woman and killing her and her paralyzed husband in Mulan County of northeast Heilongjiang Province.
The 35-year-old killer surnamed Chen broke into the old couple's house on the night of January 20 after he got drunk. He raped the elderly woman and clubbed her to death afterwards. Then he strangled her paralyzed husband and burned the house to cover his crime, Heilongjiang Morning Post reported today.
The old couple was found dead in their house the next morning. Their children didn't report it to police at first as they thought their parents died in a fire accident, the paper said.
After finding the front door was locked from the outside with a stone blocking it and the unusual way their parents were lying on the bed, the family began to suspect it was an act of arson and murder.
Chen had served 10 years in prison for robbery and became a local bully after his release, local police said.
