Ex-lawmaker in rape claim jailed for graft
A FORMER lawmaker in northeast China at the center of rape allegations by a television anchorwoman has been jailed 11 years for corruption and fraud.
Sun Dejiang was a deputy to the National People’s Congress and manager of a state-owned company in Shuangcheng City in Heilongjiang Province.
He helped workers at a beer company retire early and falsely receive benefits, Shuangcheng People’s Court heard.
And between 2009 and 2010 he forged documents for his company to pay his medical bills and family expenses, the Shuangcheng People’s Court said.
The China News Service didn’t say how much money was involved in Sun’s activities.
In 2012, Wang Dechun, a former anchorwoman with Shuangcheng TV Channel, claimed online that Sun had raped her when she was seven months pregnant.
She also accused Sun of selling state-owned assets and charging fees from residents to help them forge retirement documents.
The accusations led to a probe by the city government and in 2012 Sun was removed from his post and expelled from the Party.
In 2013, Sun was arrested. He was not charged with rape.
