Ex-mayor suspected of taking bribes
THE former mayor of Jinan, capital of east China's Shandong Province, is suspected of taking bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said yesterday.
Yang Luyu, also former deputy secretary of the Jinan City Committee of the Communist Party of China, has been placed under “coercive measures,” which may include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest, the SPP said, adding that an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, three officials from China's Sichuan and Hunan provinces have been arrested on suspicion of corruption, the SPP said yesterday.
They include Li Kunxue, former Communist Party deputy secretary of Chengdu, capital of the southwestern Sichuan Province; Wei Changping, former vice mayor of Yibin in Sichuan; and Pi Lin, former general manager of the Hunan Daily Group.
All three are suspected of taking bribes, the SPP said, adding that an investigation into their cases is currently under way.
