Ex-model takes pride in her police role

A model-turned policewoman has become an Internet sensation after her story was posted online by someone called Laochengdu.

Feng Li, a 29-year-old traffic police in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, began her modeling career when she was a just middle school student. Later she was earning as much as 50,000 yuan a month as a full-time model.

When a deadly earthquake struck the western part of Sichuan Province in 2008, Feng went to the disaster area to work as a volunteer and she found many police officers were rescuing trapped victims without wearing masks. She was deeply moved.

She knew that modeling is a profession for young people and she wanted to become a policewoman. So she applied for a police job and was among the 75 new recruits selected from about 4,000 candidates.

Feng has been a traffic police officer for more than three years and is earning about 4,000 yuan a month, but she is proud of her new career.

The ex-model got married in 2008 with a university sport teacher and has a two-year-old daughter.
