Expat, cops bring stranded woman ashore
A foreigner and two policemen rescued a young woman who was stranded on a rock by rising tides in Qingdao, Shandong Province on Tuesday.
The woman, in her 20s, was playing on a 10-square-meter rock that afternoon when she suddenly found surging tides had submerged her way back to the shore, about 30 meters away, today's Yangcheng Evening News reported.
She cried for help and her friend on the shore called the police. Two policemen rushed to the spot and threw a lifebuoy toward her, but she was so scared to swim back and just sat on the rock.
Seeing the danger, a foreigner joined in the rescue. He and a policeman waded toward the woman while another officer pulled the rope attached to the lifebuoy. Thanks to their efforts, the woman was brought to safety.
