Explosion at factory kills 1 and injures 5
A WORKER died and five were injured in an explosion at a factory yesterday in east China's Zhejiang Province, local fire authorities said.
The blast occurred around 9am at a polishing factory in the Ouhai District of Wenzhou City.
Six workers were injured, and one of them died in hospital.
Investigators confirmed that the explosion occurred when aluminite powder, a raw material for making polishing products, caught fire.
Witnesses said more than 10 people were working in the factory when the accident happened, and the factory was blown open by the explosion.
Firefighters reached the site shortly after the accident and put out the fire.
Further investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
On October 24, aluminite powder caught fire in another Wenzhou factory, causing an explosion that left 16 people seriously injured and resulted in the evacuation of more than 100 residents.
