Explosion kills 27

TWENTY-SEVEN people were killed yesterday in a gas explosion at colliery in southwest China's Sichuan Province, local authorities said. The accident occurred around 2pm in Taozigou coal mine, Luxian County, in the city of Luzhou, when 108 miners were underground.
