Fake policeman preys on adulterers with toy pistol
A Beijing man was arrested for dressing like police and robbing dubious couples fondling in cars with a toy pistol, Beijing Times reported today.
The man surnamed Yang allegedly committed six such robberies in April alone. On April 25 He drove a rented car to a remote corner of Haidian District, there he found a man and a woman, surnamed Song and Li, were fondling in a car. Yang went up, showed them a fake officer card and the toy pistol, and pretended to question them.
After learning that Li was already married and was having an affair with Song, he threatened that they had to pay 20,000 yuan as bail or they would be taken to a police bureau for investigation. Song eventually paid 17,000 yuan to him.
When Song met Yang the next day to pay the remaining 3,000 yuan, he grew suspicious and demanded to check Yang's identity. Yang suddenly ran off and threatened Song with the toy gun to stop him from chasing.
Yang was later captured by Beijing police and he confessed to robbing more than 20,000 yuan in six cases in April, picking out those who were having an extramarital affair as his targets.
