Falling boulder kills 7 in S China, 8 Taiwanese injured

Seven people were killed and 19 others, including eight Taiwanese, were injured after a huge boulder fell off a mountain in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Thursday morning.

Four people were confirmed dead at the scene, and three others were confirmed dead after being rushed to the hospital, after the incident occurred at around 9 am in Guilin City. A tourist group was visiting the site at the time.

The eight Taiwanese, all slightly injured, are being treated at a local hospital.

Guilin is famous for its mountainous landscape, with soluble rocks on the mountains prone to landfalls, locals say. Visitors are cautioned against landfalls at the site where the incident occurred.
