Falling rain and banknotes surprise residents
TOGETHER with rain, 100-yuan banknotes fell from sky at around 6am yesterday in a high-rise residential area in Xiacheng District.
Some passengers happened to find banknotes in their arms. At the same time residents and shop owners downstairs found more banknotes on the floor, on the ceiling and inside their houses.
"A neighbor asked me if there was any banknote falling from sky into my home, and I was really surprised to find so many on the balcony, windowsill, outdoor air conditioner and on top of the ceiling," a woman surnamed Yang on the 14th floor of Fengqi Metropolitan Garden said.
Her 99-year-old mother added: "The banknotes must be from someone upstairs, and we cannot take the money."
Residents called police immediately and they handed over altogether 15,500 yuan (US$2,541) banknotes.
Residents also found four certificates for a man surnamed Bian from Zhuji in the south of Zhejiang province. Bian is 93 years old and lives on the 15th floor of the building alone.
Police contacted Bian's daughter and opened the door in the afternoon, finding Bian lying on the ground with only vest and undershorts, unconsciously.
Bian was sent to hospital immediately and recovered now.
