False rumors put poster in detention

A MAN received a seven-day administrative detention in Kuitun City in northwestern China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for spreading terrorist rumors, police confirmed yesterday.
The unemployed 26-year-old, surnamed Zhang, posted photos and false information online on September 5 claiming terrorists had stormed Kuitun railway station, the city’s public security bureau said. However, an investigation found that photographs Zhang posted online had been taken during an anti-terrorism exercise.
