Families of bus fire victims compensated 460,000 yuan
Families of more than 10 people who died in a bus fire on the Beijing-Zhuhai Highway last week have accepted compensation of 460,000 yuan (US$71,116) each, the Beijing Times reported today.
Among the 41 passengers who were killed in the fire on a long-distance bus in central China's Henan Province, families of more than 10 victims from Weihai City in eastern Shandong Province have reached compensation agreements with the bus company, the report said.
By yesterday, 37 victims' family members had been DNA tested to help with identification and 23 victims have been identified, according to the report.
Police have detained six people in connection with the deadly fire which was believed to be the result of flammable chemicals illegally carried onboard the bus, Xinhua reported.
