Family says Zhao is a scapegoat for deadly explosion
THE family of a suspect who allegedly set off a deadly blast in a government office in southwestern Yunnan Province insisted that Zhao Dengyong was just a scapegoat but very little detail has been available about the case.
Zhao was said to have detonated explosives in the office of the Baihetan Town government last Thursday, killing four people including himself and injuring 16.
The surveillance footage of the crime was not shown to the public and the injured villagers didn't recall seeing Zhao at the scene, a local newspaper, City Times, reported today.
Zhao's family said Zhao couldn't possibly plan the bomb attack because he had never touched explosives before nor did he have access to them.
Moreover, his motive remained unknown, prompting his family to believe that he was made a scapegoat.
