Fang offers reward for arrest of his attackers

SUPPORTERS of the pseudoscience debunker Fang Zhouzi are offering a 200,000 yuan (US$ 29,168.55) reward for tip-offs leading to the arrest of two men who attacked Fang two weeks ago.

The 43-year-old, US-trained biologist announced the bounty with a contact phone number and e-mail address last night on his blog and microblog of Sina.com, a popular Chinese website protal, today's Beijing Times reported.

His lawyer Peng Jian said the reward money was collected by Fang's supporters, but he didn't reveal any information about the donors, the newspaper said.
Fang was attacked on August 29 near his home in Beijing by two thugs who sprayed ether to his face and then tried to hammer his head apparently in a murder attempt.

Fang narrowly escaped the attack and told reporters it was a payback for his previous exposes of many celebrities' wrongdoings.
Beijing police are still investigating the case.
