Father blamed in son's death
A MAN allegedly killed his 9-month-old son in Chongqing Municipality by repeatedly bashing him against some rocks because he wouldn't stop crying.
Chen Yong, 24, and Yi Tongbi, the mother of the baby, had dinner with several friends in Dianjiang County on Sunday. Annoyed by the baby's crying, Yi blamed Chen for not looking after his son, Chongqing Business Daily reported yesterday.
Chen then grabbed his son and dashed out of the restaurant. Yi caught up with them and Chen hailed a motorcycle to take them home.
"Before the motorcycle came to a complete stop, Chen took our son and vanished into darkness," Yi was quoted as saying. She had to call her parents to help find them.
Later Yi and her parents heard the baby's screams and were shocked to see Chen repeatedly hitting the baby against rocks. The boy stopped crying soon after and died on the way to a hospital.
Chen is now under police control as they investigate.
"We had planned to get married when I turn 20 later this year. He loved his son very much," Yi told the newspaper. "Chen might have felt humiliated because the baby didn't stop crying throughout the dinner in front of his friends."
"But I will never forgive him," she added.
