Father kills Korean idol-obsessed daughter

A man was charged with hacking his 13-year-old daughter to death in Beijing as they had a long-running feud over her obsession with South Korean singers, Jinghua Times reported today.
The 41-year-old father surnamed Li fell into a rage when his daughter screamed “I love the stars rather than parents” during a quarrel on November 8, the report said.
Li grabbed a kitchen knife and hacked his daughter in the neck, the report said. The girl was pronounced dead at hospital. Li, who tried to commit suicide by slashing his wrist, alerted police afterward, the report said.
The girl had spent a lot of money to attend a concert by South Korean band EXO in October, according to the report.
Li believed his daughter’s academic record was suffering due to the amount of time she spent following her favorite singers and actors, the newspaper said.
No date was released for Li’s trial.
