Fees relief for students
CHINA is to waive part of the tuition fees for students from the northwestern Qinghai Province which was devastated by a 7.1-magnitude earthquake in April.
The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education said senior high school and college students who were residents of the region would not have to pay fees of at least 4,200 yuan (US$620) for one school year and would receive living allowances ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 yuan a year. The quake left 2,698 people dead and 270 missing.
