Fifth grader hacked to death outside Hangzhou school

A 12-year-old student was hacked to death yesterday afternoon about 500 meters from his school in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang Province, China News Service reported.

The boy in grade five was on his way to an extra class after school ended when he was attacked, according to the report. He was reportedly hacked several times in the head and hand.

He was near the building of his extra class when he was attacked. His teacher, who witnessed the attack from a classroom, rushed down to help but was too late, the report said.

The boy was later pronounced dead.

Police did not release any information on the attacker, who remains at large. They added they are still investigating the case.
