Financial secretary鈥檚 warning
HONG Kong Financial Secretary John Tsang says the Occupy Central movement will damage government operations and the rule of law in the city.
In his blog, Tsang said the city’s long-term political stability will be affected if the protests continue. The actions of protesters, including occupying roads and defying court rulings, will not only harm Hong Kong’s economy but also damage governance and the rule of law as well, he said.
“Rome wasn’t built in one day, but just one mistake could destroy it,” Tsang wrote.
The financial secretary also criticized filibustering in the Legislative Council which led to the delay of 21 projects at a cost of HK$1 billion (US$129 million).
