Firemen, troops fight forest fire in Yunnan

ABOUT 1,800 firefighters and soldiers are still battling a big forest fire in Dali City in southwestern Yunnan Province.
Authorities also dispatched a Mi-26 helicopter to help put out the forest fire that has been raging since early Wednesday morning near the city's Huangjia Village.
The fire spread quickly because of high winds and drought, posing threat to villagers whose houses are only hundreds of meters away, local officials said.
They said the fire could be started by a sanitation worker who was burning wastes near the forest, according to their initial investigation.
No casualties have been reported so far, the officials said.
