Fireworks blast toll rises to 6
THE death toll has risen to six from a fireworks blast in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, as investigators confirmed yesterday that remains found were of two missing people.
The blast happened at 9:58am on Wednesday when 25 people were in a workshop in Chunhua Fireworks Factory in Zhaohao Village of Shandai Town, in the Tumote Left Banner.
An initial investigation showed that 11 workers escaped unhurt and eight were injured. But police later found five bags of body parts of three men and two women in crops about 3 kilometers from the factory.
Villagers were able to identify three workers from the remains and police listed three others as still missing. As a body was retrieved from workshop debris on Friday, police said yesterday the remaining two bags held the two missing workers, a government spokesman said.
