First case in Jiangxi
JIANGXI reported the eastern province's first human case of the H7N9 avian flu yesterday.
The provincial center of disease control and prevention has sent the patient's samples to the national lab to confirm the diagnosis.
The patient, a 69-year-old man, has been admitted to a hospital in Nanchang, the provincial capital.
Also yesterday, Zhejiang Province reported two new cases and Henan Province one, raising the total number of H7N9 infections on the Chinese mainland to 111, including 23 fatalities.
Taiwan reported a case on Wednesday.
No new cases were reported from Shanghai. A 74-year-old man was discharged from the hospital yesterday.
