First round of maritime talks
CHINA and Japan held their first round of high-level consultations on maritime affairs in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou yesterday.
China's Foreign Ministry said the two countries agreed to use the mechanism as a platform for enhancing communication on maritime issues, increasing mutual understanding and mutual trust, promoting pragmatic cooperation, managing conflicts and properly handling relevant issues.
A ministry press release said the two countries agreed that the second round of consultations would be held in Japan later this year.
