First snow in Beijing this winter disrupts traffic
FIRST snow fell in Beijing this morning, disrupting the city's rush-hour traffic and stranding flights.
The Beijing Meteorological Station issued a forecast of the snow at 6:55am, providing a warning about dangerous road conditions and extended gridlock.
Beijing Capital International Airport confirmed the snow has disrupted five flights by 8am, delaying one for more than an hour and causing four others to be canceled.
As of 8am, Beijing's downtown and the outlying districts of Daxing, Fengtai, Tongzhou and Changping had received light snow, with Daxing district experiencing the largest precipitation of 0.7 mm.
The station also reported the snow is expected to last till around midday, with a daily maximum temperature of four Celsius degrees.
