A Chinese-developed stealth frigate was commissioned in the People's Liberation Army Navy yesterday.
The country's first "type 056" stealth frigate was renamed "Bengbu" at a ceremony in a naval port in Zhoushan in east China's Zhejiang Province.
Bengbu is the name of a prefecture-level city in east China's Anhui Province.
Type 056 frigates are expected to be deployed for escort missions and anti-submarine operations.
