Five missing children found dead in pond
FIVE children who went missing last Thursday in Zhejiang Province have been found dead in a fish pond about one kilometer from their home, Oriental Morning Post reported today.
The first child found was seven-year-old Cai Songtao, the youngest among the five cousins. His body was evacuated after a worker at the pond noticed the water level was abnormally high and used a bamboo stick to poke around the water gate.
The worker reported his find to police, who found the other four bodies after pumping water out of the pond. The five bodies have been identified by relatives. The others were named as three girls Cai Kangni, 13, Cai Yani, 12, and Cai Danni, 10, and boy Cai Binbin, 9.
The Public Security Office of Zhejiang Provincial Government carried out an autopsy last night, with results expected later today.
People suspect the children drowned after falling into the pond.
