Five taken for questioning over Beijing Uniqlo sex tape, including couple who filmed themselves 'having sex'
POLICE have taken five people away for questioning over a sex tape allegedly shot in a fitting room of a Uniqlo store in Beijing, according to a local TV station.
The Beijing TV reported that local police took five people away for questioning, including the man and the woman who appeared in the sex tape, on the night of July 15, the same day when the sex tape was uploaded to social networks and went viral.
The video, which lasted about 70 seconds, showed the man and the woman 'having sex' in a Uniqlo store in Sanlitun, a popular shopping area in the capital.
Police are investigating who uploaded the video online and whether it was a marketing gimmick, according to the Beijing TV.
However, the clothing retailer Uniqlo has denied the sex tape was a marketing gimmick.
In a statement released on July 15, Japan-based Uniqlo said it had reported the content to the websites involved.
"We would like to remind the public to uphold social morality and use our fitting rooms in a correct and proper way," Uniqlo said in the statement.
"We also firmly deny some online allegations saying the video is our marketing gimmick." Uniqlo said in the statement.
