Five tried for online porn shows

FIVE people have been put on trial in central China for organizing pornographic shows on Websites that made 15 million yuan (US$2.2 million) in half a year.
The trial was held behind closed doors yesterday at the Jinzhou District People's Court in Hubei Province's Jinzhou City, Xinhua news agency reported today.

The court was told Chongqing Fangwen Technology Co Ltd and Chongqing Lancai Technology Co Ltd launched a video Website in September 2008 and asked Chongqing Jule Network Co Ltd to provide video software for the Website.

The three companies signed cooperative agreements and asked a man surnamed He to recruit female presenters with another man surnamed Zhang to arrange the performances.

They built an industry chain for the online porn shows covering advertising, performance, video service and Internet access as well as third-party pay platform, the court was told.

By June last year the Website made 15 million yuan.

Fangwen's legal representative, surnamed Zheng, Lancai's legal representative, surnamed Dai, and Jule's representative, surnamed Liu, as well as He and Zhang stood trial yesterday.

Local police regarded it as the most severe porn show case it had cracked, catching 20 people and 1.29 million yuan involved.

After cutting the industry chain, more than 380 porn Websites disappeared and 23 video Websites offering porn shows were closed, the police said.
