Floods Leave Thousands Without Power
FLOODS caused by heavy rains in Yongji County, Jilin Province, stranded tens of thousands of residents without power yesterday, as the worst flooding in more than a decade continued to besiege areas of the country.
China's flood control authorities said yesterday that floods this year had left 928 people dead and 477 missing all over the country as of yesterday morning.
About 30,000 residents in Kouqian Town were trapped after torrential rains drenched Jilin yesterday. Water began flooding the town after the nearby Xingshan Reservoir and the Wende and Songhua rivers overflowed.
